North America gas pipeline update: compression projects favoured
Report summary
This quarter was marked by a slowdown in new pipeline project announcements. Most activity was focused on developing brownfield compression enhancement projects to accelerate capacity additions. Kinder Morgan’s Vail Enhancement project increased the El Paso Natural Gas Pipeline capacity by 95 mmcfd by modifying its existing Vail compression station. Meanwhile, 494 mmcfd of new interstate pipelines were proposed during Q2 along with over 4.2 bcfd of expansion capacity along intrastate pipelines.
