North America gas weekly update: Prices act like winter is already over
Report summary
A quick warm up following last week’s Arctic blast is forecast into February. Although, climatologically, winter is far from being over, forward Henry Hub gas prices seem to think the risk has passed. The March/April contract spread has flipped back to a discount as the soon-to-be-prompt March contract plumbs lows under $2.10/mmbtu. This weekly natural gas commodity report seeks to explore: • How much will overall demand collapse with coming mild weather? • Where are production freeze-offs still lingering? • Will the storage surplus rapidly re-expand?
