Located 30 kilometres (19 miles) east of the Dominican Republic's capital city, Santo Domingo, the Andres regas terminal was developed in tandem with a 304MW power plant. The terminal allowed the Dominican Republic to diversify its energy mix and reduce dependency on oil imports as well as offering a cleaner source of power generation.AES developed the terminal and continues to own and operate it.
