BG started building a significant LNG portfolio about a decade ago, and is set to become the largest IOC seller of LNG. The development of its latest LNG project in Queensland, Australia makes it a truly global player. Shell’s pending acquisition of BG will create a company with a large, diverse and flexible LNG portfolio. This will result in further operational efficiencies and portfolio optimisation. However, in the short term this may lead to a period of uncertainty.
