Following the successful operation of the satellite Hachinohe terminal that began operations in March 2007, Nippon Oil made their final investment decision to proceed with the construction of a larger LNG regasification terminal costing 50 billion yen (US$558 million) in January 2010. The EPC contract with JGC to construct the terminal was signed in October 2010.
