The Hazira regas terminal is the first privately owned LNG terminal in India. The Hazira LNG terminal was the first to introduce spot LNG supplies into India. Shell was the initial promoter of the terminal and started construction in August 2001. The Hazira terminal was set up to operate under a merchant supply model with no associated long-term supply and sales contract.
