Report summary
In July 2012, Tokyo Gas began construction of an LNG terminal at Hitachi City in Ibaraki Prefecture, around 130 kilometres northeast of Tokyo. Operations started in December 2015. The terminal is owned and operated by Tokyo Gas. The first expansion phase began in 2018, and it included the construction of a 230,000 m3 storage tank, vaporisers, and doubling the terminal's regas capacity to 6.4 mmtpa.
