In August 2008, Hokkaido Gas began soil improvement works for the construction of its Ishikari LNG terminal in Hokkaido, Japan's second-largest island. The terminal received its commissioning cargo from Sakhalin-2 on 7 October 2012; with commercial operations beginning on 30 November 2012.
