LNG market evolution in Asia – where next?
Report summary
This presentation was given at Wood Mackenzie's Asian Gas Forums in Tokyo, Shenzhen and Singapore from July 4th to 12th. It includes our H1 2018 forecasts for Asian LNG demand. There are four key themes in our H1 2018 Asian demand outlook. Firstly, initiatives to curb pollution have fundamentally improved the outlook for gas demand in China, Taiwan and South Korea. Secondly, renewable power will play a bigger role in most markets in Asia, particularly India and China. Thirdly, LNG demand will generally be higher across South and South East Asia. We are seeing private sector business development activities drive these increased expectations. Lastly, the trends of Asian LNG procurement are changing. Whereas emerging buyers dominated contracting in 2016 & 2017, we are now seeing the return of established buyers. We expect this to continue.
