Q1 2019 North America LNG projects update: will the marketing momentum continue?
Report summary
The two big project FIDs over the last six months, LNG Canada and Golden Pass, mark the start of another cycle of LNG investment in North America. Together they add some 30 mmtpa of new capacity and will push total North American LNG above 100 mmtpa. How much more could be sanctioned in 2019? Marketing activity has been relatively quiet in the first quarter of this year and there is a risk of regulatory delay. Key things to watch in Q2 will be: FID on Calcasieu Pass and Sabine Pass Train 6 Final authorisations for Driftwood, Port Arthur, Texas and Corpus Christi expansion A US/China trade deal – potentially opening the way for new sales of US LNG to China
