Q2 2019 North America LNG projects update: it's been a busy quarter
Report summary
Following a quiet first quarter, marketing activity picked up dramatically in Q2. Some 14 mmtpa of sales were announced to support new-build capacity, mainly in the US Gulf Coast. Cheniere maintained its strong track record in train start ups and FIDs. With the ramp up in production at Corpus Christi T2, Cheniere is now flowing close to 5 bcfd to its seven producing trains at Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi. FID was announced on its ninth train, Sabine Pass T6. A key project to watch in Q3 will be Venture Global's Calcasieu Pass LNG. Its differentiated approach to plant construction could test lenders' appetite for risk. But with marketing momentum now moving to Plaquemines LNG, success at Calcasieu Pass could herald a new model of US LNG.
