Abydos iron ore mine
Report summary
Abydos was a small, open-cut iron ore mine, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, owned and operated by Atlas Iron. A small amount of ore was processed and transported in Q4 2017 but all operations have now ceased. We assumed a US$2 million cost associated with closing the mine. Abydos produced both a lump and fines product. Atlas had been reviewing its options for developing satellite deposits but these had raw grades below 58% Fe and this, combined with the takeover of Atlas by Hancock Prospecting, suggests that it is unlikely that these deposits will be progressed.
