Report summaryThe SxEw operation started in January 2006, producing 6.55kt of Cu cathodes in 2010 by treating oxides and secondary sulphide ore from the open pit. A feasibility study on a project to exploit the sulphide ore resources was on-going during 2011. The plan is to build a 30kt/d ore concentrator plant with a probable start year 2016 at an estimated capital investment of $595M. The concentrator 2011 sulphide project contemplates the use of sea water.
