Chirano Mine, operated by Asante Gold Corporation, is a gold mine in Ghana’s Western North Region, within the Bibiani gold belt. Asante holds a 90% stake, with the Government of Ghana owning a 10% carried interest. In operation since 2005, Chirano is a multi-deposit site with both open-pit and underground mining feeding a central processing plant. The facility uses conventional crushing, grinding, cyanide leaching, and CIL extraction, with a current capacity of 3.5Mtpa and plans for expansion.
