Report summary
Corumba is a surface mine owned and operated by Vale located approximately 20 kilometres from the namesake city in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The operation produces a sole lump product that is sold to export customers in Argentina and on the seaborne market. Corumba does not have a seamless mine to port infrastructure solution which results in the operation being one of the highest-cost ones in our Brazilian dataset. On 6 April 2022 Vale and J&F Mineração (J&F) announced that they entered into an agreement whereby J&F will acquire Vale’s Midwestern System. The completion of the transaction is subject to compliance with certain conditions, including the approval of the competent regulatory authorities.
