Indo Gulf Fertilisers and Chemicals Corporation Limited, part of the Aditya Birla Group, have constructed an integrated smelter and refinery complex at Dahej near Bharuch in Gujarat State. The smelter had a capacity of 100kt/a copper when it was originally commissioned in late May 1998. Concentrate from a steam dryer were smelted in an Outokumpu flash furnace to produce a matte containing 63-67% Cu. Oxygen enrichment was provided by a 300t/d Praxair oxygen plant.
