Donlin Creek, jointly owned by NovaGold and Barrick, is located approximately 450km west of Anchorage and 250km northeast of Bethel. There is no road or rail access to the minesite, instead access is limited to river travel by boat or barge in the summer months and air travel all year-round. Donlin Creek is one of the largest undeveloped gold projects in the world with 34Moz contained gold in reserves plus an additional 11Moz contained gold in resources. Over an initial 27 year mine life, production will average 1.2Moz/a. The ore is refractory with the bulk of the gold occurring within arsenopyrite crystals.
