El Mochito zinc mine
Report summary
The operation is comprised of an underground mine and a 2.8kt/d mill capacity producing zinc and lead concentrates. The mine is located 88 kilometres south-west of San Pedro Sula and 220 kilometres north-west of the capital city, Tegucigalpa. It has been in operation since 1948. On December 21, 2016 Ascendant Resources (then Morumbi Resources) completed the acquisition of El Mochito from Nyrstar, at a cost of US$500,000.
