How will the Indonesian ore ban impact NPI supply?

On 30 August, Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced that a ban on nickel ore exports would come into place on 1 January 2020. This is two years ahead of the planned date of January 2022 and has significant implications for nickel industry, particularly in China, but also Philippine and Indonesia. In this insight, we examine the implication of the nickel ore export ban and take a closer look at key regions in the aforementioned three countries.
