Huludao (ISF) zinc smelter
Report summary
In 2001 the decsion was made to replace 60kt/a of the vertical retort capacity with an ISF smelter in 2004. This was a key state technical innovation project partly funded by national debt. The plant was designed by Changsha Engineering & Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals and Metallurgy and had a nominal capacity of 60kt/a zinc, 30kt/a lead and 130kt/a sulphuric acid. Construction started in 2003, and the ISF was commissioned in July 2006.
