Kanmantoo Restart copper mine
Report summary
Kanmantoo was operated as an open-pit mine between 1971 and 1976. Hillgrove Resources opened a new open pit mine in 2011 at a capital cost of A$157 million. Mining is carried out by conventional open pit methods. Ore processing is via a sulphide flotation plant with the copper-gold-silver concentrate trucked approximately 90 kilometres by road to the Port of Adelaide and shipped to smelters in China. Mining and milling operation was completed in Q1 2020, and operation was placed into care and maintenance.
