Report summary
Kiena Restart is located by the town of Val-d'Or, in Quebec, along the prospective Abitibi-Greenstone Belt. Mining in the past consisted of longhole stoping and it is proposed that mining will continue to adopt the same mining method. Under previously mined out areas underhand longhole stoping will be utilised. The mill at Kiena was designed originally with a capacity of 1,250tpd, additional crushing capacity was then installed, and the plant has reached 2,000tpd in the past. The design throughput for the restart of operations is 829tpd for the first three years, increasing to 869tpd thereafter. There is then the available capacity should Wesdome opt to proceed with an expansion of operations. The process flowsheet is comprised of crushing, grinding, cyanidation, carbon-in-pulp process, desorption, electrowinning and smelting to produce a gold doré.
