Report summary

Located in Chiba prefecture, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation's (NSSMC) Kimitsu plant produces a range of flat and long products, including: hot and cold rolled coils, galvanised steels, colour coated sheet, plate, wire rod and a range of pipe products. The operation includes the No. 4 furnace which is one of largest (5,555 cubic metre) in the world capable of producing 12,000 tonnes of hot metal per day. The No. 3 blast furnace at Kimitsu was closed in March 2016 and the plants coke ovens will be refurbished over the next two years.
