Report summary
The following notes and accompanying analysis cover operations at Konkola underground mine, together with the Konkola Deep Mining Project (KDMP). The accompanying analysis has Konkola ceasing production at end-2014 while Konkola Deeps continues to provide ore sources. The KDMP projects has faced significant challenges in reaching the proposed capacity of 7Mtpa. While the No.4 shaft (Deeps projects) has been sunk to the required depth, without further capital investment in mine development and water pumping capacity, the mine will not be able to reach full capacity.
