La Cascada SxEw copper mine
Report summary
The SxEw operation is a continuation of production from the La Cascada site. Mining dates back to 1972 and precipitate was produced on site until 2000. Underground mining took place in both the Flanco Sur and Longacho Este orebodies. Mining in the Flanco Sur orebody was by a modified room and pillar method. Cut and fill was used where the orebodies are greater than 10m in height. Resources defined at the end of 2012 were limited and it is believed that the mine ceased production during 2016.
