Liuzhou Longcheng zinc smelter

Report summary

The zinc smelter was put into operation in 1990 and comprised roasting and sulphuric acid plants. Slab zinc capacity was originally 35kt/a, but this was increased to 90 and finally 100kt/a in 2004. After a period dating from the early 2000's where a lack of feed materials restricted production, and poor economics, the smelter was finally closed in 2014 after its owner was declared bankrupt.
