Asset Report
Liuzhou Longcheng zinc smelter
Report summary
The zinc smelter was put into operation in 1990 and comprised roasting and sulphuric acid plants. Slab zinc capacity was originally 35kt/a, but this was increased to 90 and finally 100kt/a in 2004. After a period dating from the early 2000's where a lack of feed materials restricted production, and poor economics, the smelter was finally closed in 2014 after its owner was declared bankrupt. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating a number of granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now. This qualitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of a whole series of cost and production metrics over the life of the asset.
