This project concluded the exploration stage in 2020 and by then (2020) they were expecting to enter the feasibility study phase, including an economic analysis. However, the Government of Ecuador needs to define the way they will participate in this financial venture. Due to lack of financial resources of the government most probably Ecuador will consider privatizing its 51% ownership in the project. Up to 2021 there was no political decision on how the government of Ecuador will participate in this project. The Llurimagua project in Ecuador was initially envisaged to be an open pit Cu-Mo with a 60kt/d mill. However, since resources increased significantly in 2018 we have doubled the capacity to 120kt/d ore. This project was previously known as Junin.
