Los Pijiguaos bauxite mine
Report summary
The mine is the only official bauxite source in Venezuela. The ore is almost 100% gibbsite with little organic matter. The operator of the mine is CVG Bauxilum. CVG (Corporación Venezolana de Guyana) is owned by the Venezuelan government. At full capacity the mine can produce more than 5 Mtpa of bauxite, much of which goes to supply the refinery at Puerto Ordaz and the balance is sold to third parties.
