Mineral Park is a copper-molybdenum porphyry deposit with a long mining history. Initially mined by the Duval Corporation in 1963 as a 10.5kt/d mill and concentrator operation, Cyprus Amax acquired Mineral Park in 1986 and converted it to an SxEw operation in 1994. Ownership changed hands again in 1997 to Equatorial Mining who increased the SxEw flowrate to 22,700 l/m. Mercator Minerals gained ownership in 2003. In the second half of 2014, Mercator Minerals filed for bankruptcy protection. As a result Mineral Park is modelled in the accompanying analysis as closing in early 2015.
