Mining Area C iron ore mine
Report summary
Mining Area C (MAC) is a large, open-cut iron ore mining operation located approximately 360 kilometres by rail from Port Hedland, Western Australia. BHP Billiton has an 85% interest in MAC, with foundation partners Itochu and Mitsui, owning 8% and 7%, respectively. MAC is is expected to operate in the region at a full capacity of 64 Mtpa in 2023. MAC is one of the lowest cost mines supplying the seaborne market.
