New Afton copper mine
Report summary
The New Afton underground block caving project commenced operations in June 2012, with full production achieved in 2013. The mill was expanded in 2015 to over 5 Mtpa capacity. The mine produces copper concentrate with gold and silver by-products. In 2019 development work is expected to commence on the C-zone expansion which will extend mine life to 2030. The estimated capital cost is $402 million and is to be internally funded.
