Onsan copper refinery
Report summary
The refinery is located at Onsan City, near Ulsan on the south-east coast of Korea, and has good road, rail and sea links. The refinery and associated smelter were built on a greenfield site in 1980. At commissioning the refinery capacity was 80kt/a cathode, although this was increased to 100kt/a in 1986 by increasing current density and decreasing electrode spacing.
