Report summary
The Halmahera facility, located on Obi Island in Indonesia is designed to produce 52 kt/a nickel in nickel sulphate and 6 kt/a cobalt in cobalt sulphate using high pressure acid leach technology (HPAL). Development of the operation would be in two phases. Halmahera aimed to deliver its first shipment of mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP) to Chinese clients in Q2 2021 and to test the second phase of nickel sulphate production in early 2022. The Harita Group has signed offtake agreements with Beijing Easpring and GEM for nickel and cobalt sulphate products produced at Halmahera.
