Tamano copper refinery
Report summary
The refinery is located at Tamano, 15km south of Okayama, and has good road and sea links. The plant, together with a smelter, was commissioned on a greenfield site in 1972. The initial capacity of 84kt/a cathode was increased to 102kt/a by 1979 by increasing current density. The No. 2 tankhouse was commissioned in 1985 with 112 cells that increased capacity to 137kt/a cathode.
