Trombetas bauxite mine

Report summary

Trombetas is the largest bauxite mine in Brazil. It produces mainly gibbsite which is sold on an arms length basis to domestic refineries and to the export market. MRN, the mine operator, has the potential to boost output to 18Mt/a (DMT) but this is consequent upon the loss of supply of bauxite to Alunorte (from Paragominas) and Alumar (from Juruti) being replaced with alternative demand.
