Report summary
Tropicana is located 330 kilometres east-northeast of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, held under a joint venture between AngloGold Ashanti (70%) and Independence Group (30%). Conventional drill and blast open pit mining is carried out by contractor at a number of deposits (Havana, Havana South, Tropicana and Boston Shaker) with a total material movement (ore & waste) of 95Mt/a. In 2020, the operation started underground production at Boston Shaker. Ore is processed in a carbon-in-leach (CIL) plant with high pressure grinding and ball milling. Following a series of modifications, plant capacity has steadily increased from an initial 7Mt/a at commissioning to current capacity of 9.3Mt/a. In 2024, the mine produced 447koz of gold.
