Trout Lake (closed) zinc mine
Report summary
The orebody was discovered in 1976 by Granges Exploration Ltd, with development commencing in 1980 and first commercial production in June 1982. Capital cost (mine only) was C$30.3M. The mine was initially accessed by decline only. A shaft to 660m was completed in 1988 with the new crusher and hoisting facilities available for use in 1990. Since the early 1990s mining has progressively switched to long-hole open stoping from cut-and-fill. The mine closed in June 2012.
