Tyrone SxEw copper mine
Report summary
Freeport McMoRan's Tyrone operation is an open pit copper mine 16km south of Silver City, New Mexico and approximately 45km southwest of their Chino operations. Tyrone historically produced copper concentrate and precipitate but since the 1990s has only produced cathode copper. The SxEw operation began in 1984 and currently has a capacity of approximately 100 million pounds of copper cathode per year.
