Report summary
Veladero is a conventional open pit operation that utilises truck and shovel mining methods. In 2018, mining activities were focused at the Filo Federico pit in addition to stockpiled ore from the Argenta pit, where mining operations ceased in 2015. Ore is processed by two-stage crushing followed by heap leaching and Merrill Crowe recovery. Exploration continues in the Veladero district to test brownfield opportunities that could extend the mine life further. Barrick is also evaluating the remaining targets in the prospective El Indio belt.
