This Exploration trends - benchmarking by basin report quantifies conventional exploration performance of over 500 basins worldwide for the decade 2014-2023. Exploration spend is compared with the value of new field discoveries made. Investment continues to be focused on key basins, predominantly in deepwater. The top 10 basins by E&A investment represent 31% of spend. Guyana and Namibia's Southwest African Coastal lead on value created over the decade with Algeria's Sahara and Egypt's Western Desert onshore basins generating the highest returns.
