Exploration is key to PETRONAS’ upstream growth. An optimised exploration portfolio provides funding for its decarbonisation agenda. The company has streamlined its acreage in recent years, exiting several countries. PETRONAS is focused on domestic exploration and securing energy supply, whilst pursuing exploration in selected frontier and growth basins internationally. Nearly half of the company's acreage now lies in deepwater. Acreage re-loading, coupled with a high price environment could turn-around PETRONAS' exploration performance going forward.
