Report summary
Exploration is key to PETRONAS’ upstream growth and the company has actively returned to the drill bit. An optimised exploration portfolio provides funding for its decarbonisation agenda. PETRONAS' 'reclaiming its homefront' approach resulted in a string of domestic discoveries and high profile alliances with Majors to pursue opportunities in region. This is supplemented by a large acreage footprint in deepwater frontier and growth basins in the Atlantic margin. Exploration performance is improving - driven by value creation in Malaysia, Indonesia and Suriname.
