Asset Report
Tanzania Tanzanian Coastal exploration basin
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
A string of large gas discoveries by Onephir Energy, BG and Statoil since 2010 have established a major new play in Tanzania's deepwater sector. Although much smaller than Mozambique's Rovuma Basin to the south, Tanzania's discovered resources are nonetheless sufficient for an LNG export development within the Tanzanian Coastal Basin. Additional volumes found in Block 1 in the Tanzanian sector of the Rovuma Basin, and the expenditure, volumes and value creation associated with this are excluded from this analysis. Future value creation will be dependent on competitive commercial terms for an LNG export project and securing a sufficiently high gas price in an export market. Incumbents with current acreage should achieve better results from future exploration than those implied below, due to less stringent fiscal terms than those applied in newer PSCs.
