Yemen Say `un - Al Masila exploration basin

Report summary

The Say'un – Al Masila Basin is located on the southern edge of the Arabian Peninsula in the centre of Yemen. The basin is bounded to the northeast by the Howarime and Ras Fartak Highs and by the coast to the south. Early exploration in the basin focussed on shallower Cretaceous reservoirs, which are now considered to be mature. In recent years, a number of wells have been extended down to test the exploration potential of the Basement. As all future wells are expected to be drilled to the Basement, we analyse the basin as a single unit. However the deteriorating political, civil and military situation in Yemen since 2014 has effectively brought any further new exploration work to a halt for the immediate future. Because of this we have excluded an Outlook analysis. If and when the situation changes, we will re-evaluate exploration opportunities.
