US has indicated it will revise fuel economy standards of light vehicles, potentially having a large impact on long term US gasoline demand. While the EPA has determined that the standards for 2022-25 are too stringent, it has yet to determine what the final standards will be or when they will be announced. Given its early days and the uncertainty, we define a high end to a range of potential outcomes for US gasoline demand.
