In search of a fitting plan: Indonesia’s carbon neutral puzzle
Report summary
In March 2021, Indonesia announced a carbon neutrality target for 2070, the first country in Southeast Asia and fourth in the Asia Pacific region to do so. Subsequently, state-owned utility PLN announced a carbon neutrality pledge for 2050 and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources released a carbon neutral plan for 2060. This insight evaluates the different proposed plans against Wood Mackenzie's base case outlook and presents the challenges associated with attaining carbon neutrality.
