After years of regulatory and policy groundwork, authorities in several states in the US Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions are conducting large-scale offshore wind power solicitations. Maryland authorities led the way with a 368MW solicitation in 2017, and Massachusetts and Rhode Island authorities re-leased the results of the second US competitive offshore wind solicitation on Wednesday, May 22. While the awarded projects will be subject to intense timeline and execution risks, successful execution will lay the groundwork for sustainable growth in the US offshore sector.
