On January 30th, Norway’s governing coalition collapsed following a dispute over EU energy policy. At the heart of the conflict is the concern is that further market integration – especially amid rising prices – will lift costs for Norwegian households. The proposed policies have both national and regional impacts. Norwegian households will be offered a fixed electricity tariff, while two interconnectors with Denmark will be phased out when they reach the end of their technical lifespan in 2026 and 2027. No new interconnectors will be approved until at least 2029.
