Western Europe solar PV outlook 2022

Report summary

This regional report analyses the 10-year outlook for solar power development in Western Europe. Solar PV capacity in the region will grow from around 118 GWdc by 2022 to 285 GWdc by 2031, with Germany expected to lead solar buildout across the region. The country will install more than 100 GWdc from 2022 to 2031, with an expanded FIT and auction scheme to help propel growth. Meanwhile, the REPowerEU legislation envisions significant expansions in capacity across the region and has placed rooftop solar centre stage of its ambitions to reduce Europe's dependence on Russian energy. Record installation levels of residential solar are also expected over this year and in 2023 due to the high power price environment.
