How does refining and oils market impact the JCC index for LNG?
Report summary
The Japan Customs-cleared Crude (JCC) price is the weighted average price of customs-cleared crude oil imports into Japan. It is also called as the “Japanese Crude Cocktail” price. JCC is an important benchmark for oil indexed gas and LNG contract prices in many markets in Asia Pacific. JCC is used for around 40% of LNG contracts. Refining and oils market influences JCC prices in many ways, which in turn impacts the JCC-indexed LNG contract prices in Asia. Historically, JCC is priced at premium to Brent because of many market events but is projected to move to a discount in the longer term.
