Report summary
ReFuelEU aviation sets targets for blending sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) with jet fuel. By 2030, 6% of fuel used in aviation must be SAF. Of that 6%, 0.7% shall be derived from hydrogen. By 2050, hydrogen-derived fuels (synthetic aviation fuels) must account for 35% of the total fuel used in aviation in the EU. This insight aims to provide a detailed view on the EU’s position for fueling air transport, what can be done to achieve targets and what stands in the way.
